Gideon Wandera was born to Osborn and Brenda Wandera December 12, 1980. In 1999 he walked the platform from Oakland Technical High School and continued his education at Merritt College, majoring in Psychology. During his studies, he was engaged in various civic activities: as a Franklin Elementary counselor; a teacher at Camp Read A Lot; a YMCA youth counselor; and served as a referee for the City of Oakland.
From these experiences and opportunities he realized that his journey should continue working with youth. He is currently a Values Education Intern at YouthHealth USA INC, studying to be a teacher of therapeutic storytelling and values education. As a product of a broken family in the inner city and having seen many of his friends die by violence or get lost in drugs he sees the absolute need to help youth think differently so they want a future that includes education, good work ethics and values.
