Youth Participation

  1. YouthHealth USA is committed to an on-going pursuit of helping our society find appropriate ways for young people to be involved in significant decision-making processes. This pro-active approach includes assisting them to become involved in issues that affect them by establishing youth information networks, as well as encouraging representative membership of funding projects.
  2. Our principal target age group is the emerging adolescent to the 25 year old. This coincides with the United Nations' definition of the young person, and includes slight variations of age brackets referred to in some Federal and State current policy papers.
  3. To increase our access to the target age group, we are also involved in developing strategies to help their parents and caregivers. We also offer a range of resources for parents of younger-children, which they can use together to develop safety skills.
  4. It is thus our aim to encourage initiatives that will provide a wide range of meaningful challenges and support for young people, directly or via those who care for them. Through joint ventures, we seek to create opportunities for them to pursue their passions and act as catalysts for change in a society in which they feel and know they have a stake.
