Guiding Principles

  • The following principles underlie the work of our organization:
    • working with others in positive and collaborative relationships
    • abiding by transparent ethical practice
    • respecting the norms of cultural safety
    • valuing and promoting respect for diversity
    • seeking and incorporating youth perspectives
    • applying consistently best practice standards
    • ensuring project development incorporates evidence-based approaches
    • maintaining continuous quality improvement.
  • YouthHealth USA acknowledges and draws upon a number of significant Federal and State current documents. These will be listed and published (in part) on our web site as and when appropriate.
  • YouthHealth USA recognizes the principles of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion. In particular, we try to:
    • create supportive environments
    • strengthen community action;
    • develop personal skills.
  • Indeed, inspired by these powerful ideals we have chosen to focus our organization and its programs and processes on the empowerment of young people and those who care for them.
  • YouthHealth USA enters into collaboration with other organizations who share these commitments.
